Fairy Nihonbashi Retirement Show ~ Fairy Fantasia Vol. 1 - Naoki Tanizaki & Shota Sugiyama vs. Mikiya Sasaki & Tsuyoshi Michibata - 2020.12.13
This match is the opener of the retirement show for (since unretired) Fairy Nihonbashi. Sasakis tag partner is Tsuyoshi Michibata, who also debuted in J2000 in 2015. Their opponents are Ultimo Dragon trainee and veteran Naoki Tanizaki and a young prospect from Dotonbori Pro, Shota Sugiyama. I don’t think I've even seen one match of his, but it seems that Sugiyama also retired back in 2022. The match starts with some fine technical wrestling. Sugiyama is standing out in the first minutes of the match, especially against Sasaki. Sugiyama hits a spear on Sasaki for the two count before the team of Sasaki & Michibata inflicts some damage on the rookie. After that Tanizaki hits Michibata for the two count. Sasaki hits his signature punch combo in Tanizaki, but Michibata only gets a two count as well. Michibata then goes for the kicks to the head of Tanizaki, but gets countered and put into the Crossface. Michibata taps, the match is over and clocks in just over 10 minutes. That was cool! Especially Sugiyama had some sequences that really stood out in this. Sad that he retired in 2022. I would be a fan seeing him somewhere today!
