MeriPro - Meriken Friday Night - Kohei Kinoshita, Naoki Tanizaki & Shoichi Uchida vs. Harutoki, Mikiya Sasaki & Yuto Kikuchi - 2024.02.23
We are back in Ringsoul for another Meriken Friday Night! And what a Meriken it is - it even features a title match! That’s rare! So far to this day, it is only the second time this happened other than an Independent Junior Heavyweight Title match between Oji Shiiba and Yu Shimizu in 2023. The WDW Six Man tag titles from Dotonbori Pro are on the line in this one and it is on the line for the first time since the titles been captured in September of 2023. We have many of the Kansai youngsters in this one as well - Kikuchi, Harutoki and Kohei Kinoshitta and a line up of veterans in Sasaki, Uchida & Tanizaki. And this match features background music. To be fair, I could live without that!Both teams brawl on the outside a bit and we can get a good look of the inside of Ringsoul! Very good, that this wasn’t filmed with the Hardcam Go Pro, as we would basically miss half of the match.After a neat Tanizaki/Kikuchi sequence in the ring, they go to the outside again, this time not filmed. The in-ring parts are rather slow. Sasaki gets attacked by his opponents constantly. When Tanizaki gets in the ring, he hulks up and shows his opponents his punches, before conceding a triple Dropkick to his head for a two count. Sasaki counters a Suplex from Kinoshita and finally tags out! Harutoki and Kikuchi beat up Tanizaki and Uchida and we get a chain submission. Sasaki tries to lock in the Spinning Toe Hold on Kinoshita, but gets rolled up - 2! Uchida hits a Leg Sweep on Harutoki and puts him in a submission, that gets broken up by Kikuchi. Sasakis team gets to beat up Uchida, before the opponents attack Sasaki together. A pin attempt from Kinoshita is broken up by Kikuchi, who jumps from the top rope onto Kinoshita! Kikuchi and Harutoki hit some tag moves on Kinoshita and Kikuchi shows a Standing Moonsault - two on the pin! Sasaki hits Kinoshita with the punches and hits a piledriver on Kinoshita - another two count! And we get another piledriver! 2! Sasaki goes for some roll up attempts, Kinoshita counters and shows a deadlift German Suplex! Finally the three count for the win! Great ending sequence to this match and one of only two title defenses in Ringsoul! The long brawling sequence in the beginning wasn’t needes, but the finish was really intense and the match got going in the second half! Great!
